Frequently Asked Questions

What are the differences between solid, engineered and laminate flooring?

Laminate flooring is a "floating" floor which means it is not secured to the slab or subfloor. Also, laminates are not a "true" wood material. Laminates can be more durable, but since they "float," they produce a hollow sound when walked on.

Solid wood floors are exactly what they sound like. A solid wood plank is one piece of wood top to bottom.

Engineered wood planks are layers of wood pressed together with grains running in different directions making it more dimensionally stable than solid wood.

What areas are best to install hardwood?

Customers have chosen to install hardwood in all areas of their home. We do not advise installation in the bathroom or laundry room areas due to the potential for water damage.
